Restore Your Gold Jewelry: Gold Dip Solutions & Care Tips
QuestionMy boyfriend got me a herrinbone 36' or 24' gold necklace for X-mas. I thought it was real but as I wore it, it started to fade not real. I don't want to hurt his feelings and say anything so I would like to buy some gold dip solution for it to keep it nice looking forever. I Love the necklace and would love to wear it every day but scared to since it's so sensitive to the water ocean and shower and sweat. Any web site address available to purchase this for my costume jewlery? I also have a ring we picked out at a Flea market not real- I love the clear stone cut and it's wearing the silver or white gold plate to a copper looking medal want to save it to. I enjoy wearing it cause he got it for me but showing signs of not real again. I know the solution is to get something real but it's not what it is made of it's the person who gave it to me and the thought that counts. Please send me info e-mail address or web site to order this stuff not just gold all jewlery dipping solutions for all kinds Thanks and God Bless.. Lisa
AnswerDear Lisa,
To "dip" something in gold solution requires knowledge, practice and equipment. If the jewelry was gold plated and your body acids can't take it you will be wasting your money.
I understand the sentimental value of the jewelry but you will spend lots more just to keep it nice.
If you are not a jeweler and want to try to do this, it will not be as easy as it sounds, therefore I will recommend you to take the pieces to a jeweler and have him/her do the work for you.
Hope it helps
