Ponce Goldtone Lucite Bracelet: Value & History
QuestionI actually have quite a bit of vintage costume jewelry (and other antiques I inherited) and have a bracelet that I have grown fond of. It is goldtone with what appears to be amber Lucite deco style settings in five link sections. It also has prong-set rhinestones and pearls. I finally broke out my husbands microscope and figured the maker/mfr is Ponce. Do you have any information on this make and possible resources to determine value? Thank you for the services you provide!
AnswerHello Sharon and thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like you have a lovely bracelet. I have not been able to find a manufacturer/designer with the name "Ponce" in my resources. There were thousands of designers both American and European some producing large lines of jewelry and others only a few pieces. You might find some additional resources at your public library or keep checking online sources for a similar piece. Determining value with costume jewelry is difficult since there is no precious metal or stones to consider. The only value considerations would be quality of construction and design, materials used and if it was by a well known and desirable designer or manufacturer. Marketplace desirability would vary from day to day and one of the online auctions would be the best place to judge if you can find a similar item. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance, but good luck and enjoy your bracelet !
