Question1 is a Rube a very dark red garnet? and how do I determine the pricing on my sapphires and possible rubies? Your reply will be extremely helpful. Thankyou Brent
AnswerG'day Brent and many thanks for your query
Your first gemstone you have described as being a ruby - but then say it is a dark red garnet? it can't be both so have you had them identified correctly?
Once that is done - an assuming they are already cut but not yet set (loose gems) - you can either try places like eBay just to get some idea by comparing - or use sites like gemval.
Remember though, that there is NO FIXED PRICE for gemstones.
It is what you, as a willing Buyer, is prepared to pay to a willing seller. The prices you see are guides - no more - plus the Trade pay an entirely different price than you might see in retail stores.
There is also an ONLINE gemstone appraisal service at: http://www.gemstone-appraisals.com/ where you can fill in a simple online form and print a Gemological Specification Lab Report. Might be worth checking out but you should read everything on the site to understand just what an appraisal means.
Hope this helps and a Happy New Year...
