QuestionQUESTION: My mother gave me a ring which she thought was a topaz. However, a jeweler said it was a mexican opal. The stone is gold colored and is shaped like an egg. Are these stones worth much?
ANSWER: Hi Patricia,
Well that would depend on how nice of a stone it is and mostly does it have the opal fire flashes. If not no it is not worth a whole bunch and is fairly common.

QUESTION: Mine does not have much color in it. When you say not worth a whole bunch, could you give me a range of prices?
AnswerHello again,
The red type of mexican opal if nice is around 100 to 250.00 range depending on size. The clear type with good color 50 to 150.00 again depending on size. Their is also a orange type around the same as above.
So depending on the size and how well your stone is polished and the amount of color, yours could be from 15.00 to 100.00.
