Identifying Antique Jewelry: Understanding 'STARK' Maker Marks

My mother in law has a very old ring that belonged to her father. It is a simple gold band (18k) with STARK inscribed on the inside. We were trying to find out about the maker, STARK. This ring has to be approx. 80+ years old. Any information you have is very much appreciated!

Even seeing the ring makes it very difficult to research trademerks or hallmarks.
You may want to try a store called C.B. Stark Jewelers.
They have 2 stores that I know of:  Vineyard Haven, MA. and Edgartown, MA. Both on Martha's Vineyard Island.
