Decoding Platinum Ring Markings: Understanding Your Ring's Identification

Question
Hi,
I have a diamond ring that has the following marks:
O1 K 081 PLAT ~ I've searched everywhere to try and assertain if the number is related to the Platinum content but can't find anything. The diamond is 1ct which I assume is the 01k (maybe incorrectly) but would appreciate any insight or thoughts that you may have into this.
Kind regards
Lou

Answer
Dear Lou,

The only mark with meaning to me is the PLAT, generally considered to represent platinum of 95% or perhaps higher purity.  The other marks are not familiar as standard markings and may be stock or design numbers used by the manufacturer.  The numbers do not appear to have any connection with the platinum content.

You can see the standard markings for platinum as used in the UK at this link to one of the assay offices:

Birmingham Assay Office

I do appreciate the question. God Bless and Peace.   Thomas.
