Resizing Rings with Missing Gemstones: A DIY Guide

I have several rings where I lost the gemstone.  How can I get the correct size to fit.  Is there a way to measure? Jewelers are way too expensive. Can I do it myself if I have the proper tools?

Hi Elaine,

Most jewelers would measure your mounting for free at least the ones I know would.  They would also examine your prongs to see if they need repair.  Also you would need them to reset the stones.

You can buy a milimeter gauge and try to measure your mountings but it is difficult to get it exact.
