Questioni am 31 years old, married from 4yrs ago and i have a baby 3years, and i tried to get pregnant again about one year ago ,me and my husband have no healthy problems, i just would like to know if my ovulation is normal and having a good egg size or not, by checking i know that my egg size in day 10 was 16mm and my cycle is regular so if egg size is small do i need any medications to take? please help me and thanks.
AnswerHello Marwa from Egypt,
A follicle size of 16 mms is not quite sufficient for ovulation, but if you have regular menstrual cycles, you are ovulatory (i.e. ovulating each month). The reason for the small size is probably that you were not yet quite ready to ovulate when the ultrasound was done to check the ovaries. Follicles should be 18-24 mms at the time of ovulation. I would have repeated the ultrasound in 1 or 2 days to time the ovulation.
At this point, since it has been over a year since you started trying to get pregnancy again, you need to see a fertility specialist for an evaluation. The evaluation findings will determine what the best treatment option is.
Good luck,
