Reviving a Dull Opal Ring: Polishing & Restoration Guide

can you tell me what i can do about an opal stone that is very dull. i brought it on e-bay for 50pounds and am dissapointed that it has no reflection.

It needs to be polished with pure high grade cerium oxide
on felt pad that is spinning the felt is wetted with water and the oxide is applied to the wet felt.  If there is scratches or abrasions they need to be sanded first using 400 - 600 mesh sand paper then followed by 1000 -1200 sand paper to pre polish. Or find a gem cutter like myself to polish it for you.  The problem is the shipping costs.  Or find a local who has the equipment and supplies.
