QuestionQUESTION: I have a ring given to me by my grandmother. It was an anniversary gift to her from my grandfather. It is stamped 14kt p .001 and it has 1 center round clear stone (was told they are diamonds) about 4 mm flanked on each side by an additional round diamond ever slightly smaller than the one next to it, for a total of 5 diamonds. Above that is a row of 6 rubies, all about 2 mm round, and another identical row below, totalling 12 rubies. The setting is 'white'. It is very heavy. I am curious about the meaning of the stamp and the approximate value of the ring, although I have no intentions of ever letting it go.....

QUESTION: Here is a picture
AnswerGreat Picture. The center diamond based on your description is approx. 4.0mm which is close to a .25cts diamond although I think the center stone is closer to a .20cts diamond with 2 .15cts each on each side and 2 .10cts each on the ends for a total diamond weight of approx. /70cts the ruby's on the outside are all approx. .10cts although rubies weigh more than diamonds so Im guessing approx. 12 @ .12cts each or a total weight of 1.44cts from the picture (although not a closeup and not true color) look decent @ 150.00/carat the diamonds IM assuming are SI H color (which is decent average) 560.00 + 220.00 with labor and 14kt y.g. P (for plumb gold ? maybe) not sure what the .001 is at this point, could be a manufacturers number ( if you read it properly, its very small and hard to make out if the ring has been worn and is that old) the gold value approx. 150.00 + labor to set all the diamonds apprx. 200.00 , so after all that.......the total WHOLESALE COST of this ring to mfg from scratch would be approx. $930.00 for a retail value of approx. $ 1800.00
hope this helps, please keep in mind that I am guessing at the color clarity and approx. weight but it should be pretty close...
all the best
