QuestionI have my mother's wedding band and was wondering what the hallmarks inside of the band mean. I know what they are (ie: maker's mark, etc...) just don't know what time period the ring is from. My mother is just 55 years old, but the ring was purchased for her in London some years ago -- probably 20 years ago.
First, the maker's mark is ".W.W.". Next, there is the date letter "S", which is in a shield and is capitalized, with serifs. The date letter is followed by a crown, then the number 22 for the gold quality and there is one more hallmark, but it's hard to identify. IT could be a shield, but it's a triangular shape hallmark that is horizontal, like the date letter.
IS there any information that you could provide me about this ring. We are thinking about selling it, but if it's a keeper, we would like to know. Thanks!

AnswerHi Anna,
I have seen that hallmark and similar hallmarks but I don't know much about that one. I know the ring was made and assayed in England. I'm sorry that all I know with this one.
Trying doing a search for a Jewelry Valuator in the UK.
I met a gentleman over there who has an appraisal business just south of London and I bet they would know that hallmark exactly,
Good Luck!!
