White Spot on Turquoise Crystal Ring: What is it?

Just bought a ring made by a famous ring designer. He calls the stone "turquoise crystal," which I have never heard of before. Just today, I noticed a white spot on the crystal. Do you know what could have caused/causes that? It's small, and I love the ring, so I'm keeping it. But I'm just curious if it's a natural flaw. In the picture below, if you imagine the stone as the face of a clock, the spot is between 6 and 7. The surface is perfect. It isn't a scratch or a nick.

I don't understand why it is a tourquoise crystal...?
can the seller explain..it does not seem to have the blue color of turquoise....perhaps it is man made..? you need to find out just what it is to determine what the white spot is..first contact the designer..
