Identifying a Gold Bracelet: MT 70% Stamp & Origin

Question
QUESTION: Hi there,
I have inherited a man's gold bracelet with the stamp MT 70% on the back of the clasp.  I believe this bracelet was purchased in a country other than the USA, but am not entirely sure.

I'm wondering if you could tell me of the stamp, and perhaps any ideas as to the country of origin?

It is quite heavy (nearly 3 oz.), and very yellow gold.

Thank you very much.

ANSWER: Hi Sheila,

The MT 70% means nothing in the gold business.
Get the bracelet tested to be safe.

QUESTION: Hello and thank you for your reply.  I have had the bracelet acid tested and it tested as gold.  My question, then, if I sold it simply for the gold value, what can I expect to be paid for it?  It would be measured in troy ounces, correct?  Thank you very much.

Answer
Yes. Gold is weighed in Troy Ounces as well as Pennyweights and Grams.

1 Troy OZ = 20 dwt - (Penney weight)
         = 30 gr. -  ( Grams)

Shop around. a jeweler may offer what ever he wishes.
