QuestionCan you tell me what the Hallmark LK18 means? I'm assuming 18 K gold, but just wanted to be sure. The white gold ring also has an inscription and a date of 1901.
AnswerActually, I cannot tell you for certain about these marks. Like you, I would believe it to be 18k as that was a popular karat for old white gold. Funny thing, white gold is said not to have been introduced to the consumer market until about 1912. An engraving of 1901 seems a bit early but such dates as "when it happened" in the jewelry world are often a bit cloudy and cover a few years.
The best answer will come from a jeweler who will test the metal for karat. Call first since some stores do not have a jeweler to do the testing. Best wishes with the ring.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
