Removing Engraving from Silver: Can It Be Buffed Out?

I need to replace a Waterford cake knife that was broken (the handle) and found an excellent deal on a like-new Waterfod knife on e-bay. The one problem is that it is engraved. It appears not be be deeply engraved....would there be any possibility of taking it to a professional jeweler to have it buffed/polished out?

Take it to a Silversmith and you will have your best luck. I think your chances are good although the handle may look slightly different in shape. Then again it may not.
