The Value and Rarity of Green Andesine: Insights for Collectors

Question
i am in the process of sending my red andesine back to jtv.my questios is should i hold onto the green because of its colorshifting properties or is this because of the copper infusion and not rareity of the gem. is it rare and worth holding? i have an 18.5,7.0 & 5.87 rd and 8.0 & 4.5 oval.

Answer
HI WYNTA,

FROM MY EXPERIENCE THE GREEN AS WELL AS THE RED ARE BOTH PRODUCED IN A LABIN THAILAND FROM LOW GRADE MATERIAL FROM INDIA USUALLY. SO ALTHOUGH IT IS PRETTY IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY MAN MADE AND THEREFORE NOT WORTH MUCH. IF THE GREEN WAS BOUGHT FROM JTV THEN THAT IS MOST LIKELY THE CASE. IF IT WAS NATURAL FROM OREGON THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A VALUABLE PIECE OF MATERIAL. IT IS NO CRIME TO LIKE MAN-MADE STUFF JUST NOT VERY VALUABLE.
THANKS AND GOOD LUCK
