Andesine Feldspar: Understanding Treatments and Authenticity

Question

treated feldspar
Are the honey, orange, peachy green, Andesine also treated feldspar? I started collecting gemstones in 2004 and learning about gemology.  It is an on going learning process.  Acquiring stones off of the internet via Auction site and shopping sites, and gem/mineral shows  One such site has an on going suit files against it for Red Red/Green colored Andesine sold as untreated.  Recently,(gemstone trade magazine) it has been determined that treatment is applied to Red Red/Green Andesine. Thanks for your time in this matter.

Answer
HI DEBBIE,

THERE IS NATURAL COLORED HONEY, ORANGE, PEACHY GREEN "ANDESINE". IT WOULD BE MORE LIKELY CALLED OREGON SUN-STONE OR LABRADORITE. ANDESINE IS ATRADE NAME. THIS WHOLE AREA OF FEDESPARS IS SUCH A MESS I WOULD NOT BE SERIOUSLY BE INVOLVED IN BUYING THEM. THE TV STONES ARE OBVIOUSLY TREATED AND THE TIBET, CHINA & CONGO ARE MOST LIKELY FAKES. WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING THAT IS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS.
GOOD LUCK.
