Identifying Your Sterling Silver Locket: 925 RJ Mark & Potential History

Question
I have a sterling locket has a open flower design, also has 6 marcasite (stones?) and 1 onyx in the center. the back is marked 925 RJ. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Jennifer and thank you for your inquiry. Your locket sounds very pretty. I don't know how large it is, but there were lockets that were meant to hold a small piece of scented fabric or cotton and sometimes other small treasures depending on the age of the piece. The 925 means that is is sterling and the RJ is probably the manufacturer. I have not been able to find the RJ in any of my resources. Older pieces, especially, were sometimes not registered as to manufacturer name and this could be the case. If I find the initials at a later date, I'll be sure to let you know and in the meantime, enjoy your locket !
