Question
I have necklace that was brought back from Germany30 yrs. ago. It is strung on red thread. The beads are almost a disclored looking white. It looks like it could be some kind of stone. I would like to have it restrung so I would feel safe wearing it, but don't want to diminish it's value , if any.your input is grearly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Earllain,

Having your beads restrung should not diminish its value, but will keep it safe.  You can check with the experts at "Antiques Roadshow" to ask about the value being altered by changing vs. repairing the original clasp, if there is one.

If you want to know what the beads are, you would be best taking it to a local gemologist for identification.
