Identifying & Valuing a Vintage Choker: Is it Lisner?

Question

Choker
I purchased this piece at an auction a couple of weeks back....I'm very curious of its origin and background. I've tried to find an identical piece online, but cant seem to locate one. In all the research Ive done, most attributes point towards Lisner....its not marked. Is it Lisner? What is the value? Its a choker style, white "ivory" roses and gemstones. Ive enclosed a close up shot...

Answer
Hello Ashley and thank you for your inquiry. Your necklace could possibly be Lisner, however most of their items were signed. This type of necklace was popular during the 1950's and many companies used similar styling. It is difficult to match up the exact design unless you have an old catalog or find a similar one with a paper tag, which is what this piece may have had. The only thing I can tell you is to check your local library for costume jewelry books with pictures of some of the company designs (or your local bookstore). A lot of companies made sets similar to yours and marked only the earrings. A paper tag was sometimes included with the necklace which usually doesn't last very long. Sorry I couldn't help you further but enjoy your necklace !
