Identifying an Antique English Locket: Help Needed!

Question

Front of Locket
I've got an old locket that was my great great gran's back in England. It's hand carved and all I can make out on the back is a "T" that seems to be in a sideways oval. I don't hold out much hope of finding where it's from other than knowing my family comes from Cornwall but I thought I'd give you a try.

Answer
Hello Ash and thank you for your inquiry. You have a lovely locket. If the locket is English you might find the mark in the Pocket Edition of Jackson's Hallmarks. They cover the entire English hallmark area in gold and silver. You might also be able to get a copy of it at your local book store or at amazon.com. There are a few marks listed for Cornwall although most of them seem to be within shields, but the locket could have been made in any number of places in England all of which have different provincial markings. Hope this helps and good luck. Enjoy your locket !
