Decoding Diamond Hallmarks: Understanding Your Micro Pave Earrings
QuestionHello,
I recently purchased a pair of diamond micro pave hoop earrings. I was told they were from "overseas". Can you decipher the hallmarks as follows: 119 750 18kt Al 10? I am aware that some of the goods coming from Hong Kong are often marked for diamond weight and these earrings were sold to me as containing 1.44ct of diamonds. These stones are single cut and were sold as full cut diamonds as well as good quality. Did I pay for something I didn't receive? These earrings cost over $900.00. Thank you for your help.
AnswerHi Olivia,
I decipher the stamp as '119' stones, '750' and '18kt' both mean 18 karat gold. 'Al 10' is unknown but probably is a mfg. code. If you thought they were full cuts and they are single cuts then you definitely paid to much. $900 seems to be to expensive for these earrings. If they told you the stones were full cuts and they are not then their weight could also be misrepresented. You need to get a full appraisal to get the truth. Good Luck
