QuestionRecently (within the last three years) my parents purchased an amazing
necklace and earring set for me to celebrate my law school graduation. It
meant a lot to me because they are of very modest means and gifts of this
sort are rare in my family. On a recent trip I lost the earrings which go with
the set. I hate to be attached to material things, but I am a little heart
broken. The set was purchased from a JC Penny in Florida (I'm sure, not very
fancy for true jewelry connoisseurs). The necklace is white and yellow gold
with a very intricate and unique "beading" design, and has the marks ID, 14K
and a B in a circle stamped on it. I have already checked J C Penny to see if
they still have this item in stock and they do not. Is there any other way to go
about tracking down the earrings so I can buy another pair? If there was a J C
Penny employee who would know about these things, what would his/her title
be? Thanks.
AnswerHI CARINE,
SORRY FOR THE LOSS BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE ANOTHER PAIR. OR THE BUYER IN CHICAGO I BELIEVE MIGHT KNOW IF THEY HAVE SOME LEFT OR WHERE THEY CAME FROM. HOWEVER YOU CAN MAKE A DUPLICATE PAIR IF YOU HAVE A GOOD PHOTO OF THE PAIR AND A PHOTO OF THE NECKLACE. YOU MUST SHOW THE RELATIVE SIZE OF THE EARRINGS TO THE NECKLACE. THERE ARE MANY MANUFACTURING JEWELERS IN THE U.S. THAT COULD DUPLICATE IT FROM A PHOTO. WITHOUT A PHOTO YOU WOULD NEED AN ARTIST WHO DESIGNS JEWELRY TO DRAW THEM AND HAVE A MOLD MADE AND CAST. IT WILL COST 5 TIMES WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY COST BUT THIS IS AMERICA. IF YOU GO TO THAILAND I CAN HAVE A MASTER JEWELER MAKE ONE, BY HAND, FOR 20% OF THE COST. GOOD LUCK.
