Unplated vs. Plated Diamond Stud Earrings: Which is Best?

What the difference with plated and unplated diamonds stub earrings. In other words which one is better.

Which is better, plated or non-plated earrings?  If you mean costume earrings which are gold plated or plated with some white metal, those are definitely not as good as earrings made of solid precious metal, either silver or gold. I something is "gold plated" for instance, this often means it is costume jewelry with only a thin layer of gold on the outside to give the gold look.

Silver earrings(sterling silver, not white gold) are often plated with a layer of rhodium to prevent tarnish and skin reactions to the metals.  This is good if you have trouble wearing silver. If you can wear silver with no problems, you might like the look of natural silver the best and in that case non-plated is your personal choice.

White gold is sometimes rhodium plated to make the white gold look whiter. One is not better than the other since this is a personal choice.  Normally, non-plated white gold earrings are quite ok.
