hi ive got an 18ct gold four stone  diamond engagement ring given to my grandma by my grandfather, its twisted at the top with the four diamonds twisting over themselves, it is medim thickness,i was wondering how much roughly i should unsure it for and is it worth telling my insurance company

Hi Sam, Totally impossible for me to appraise the diamond ring without necessary measurements to ascertain stone weights as related to value for insurance purposes. Your best bet of course is to take the item to a registered appraiser for this task. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you but the ring sounds beautiful.
