Titanium & White Gold Wedding Bands: Compatibility & Care

Question
Hi there,
I have an 18ct white gold engagement ring and am now looking at wedding rings.  I would like to know if it is OK to wear a titanium wedding band with a white gold ring and how the 2 metals could affect each other.
Many thanks,
Helen

Answer
Helen, I have not had direct experience with wearing of titanium and 18kt gold together.  None of our customers have chosen the combination.

Helen, I believe because of the differences in hardness of the metals, the titanium will show little wear while the gold ring may have faster wear against titanium than if worn with another ring of the same gold karat.  Titanium is definitely harder than 18kt gold.

Even without direct experience of wearing the metals together, I have worked on both metals and have an appreciation for the differences.  I personally would not choose titanium to wear with a gold ring, whether of 18kt of another quality.  That is my personal opinion based on working with both metals, not with wearing those in unison.

Best wishes in making your decision. Oh, we do hope one day to visit your country.

God Bless and Peace.  Thomas
