Value of Vintage Korean War Silver Cross Ring
QuestionI have a ring that my uncle bought when he was in the korean war. All it says is made in Korea and the word SILVER. It doesn't list any weight values. It has a cross on the face of the ring. It is all Silver. Does this ring have any Old War value or Silver value?
AnswerG'day Char and many thanks for your query
Silver as you know is the cheaper precious metal and just because an item was made during the Korean war won't change that. Silver today is still only $12.99 per ounce compared to gold at over $620 - so you see the silver content value is not much. As a war item - well no. It's not a medal or a regiment ring or anything like that. Simply a ring your uncle bought while serving there - much like a tourist would do today.
Your best bet is to browse through places like eBay or the Antique Jewelry Fair because they may get similar items from time to time. It is at: http://www.antique-jewelry-fair.com/
Hope this helps.
