Understanding Silver Stamps: What Does 825 Mean on a Ring?
Questioni have a silver ring ,that looks like it has some age to it,it has 4 diamonds on it with breathing holes, could it be real?
AnswerHi Bobby,
The '825' is a standard silver stamp. '925' is sterling silver. It means 82.5% and 92.5% is pure silver. Without seeing the ring it is very difficult to determine if it is "real". Usually diamonds are not set in silver even if it has "breathing holes". First find out if the diamonds are "real" that is the most important issue. I would guess they are not.
