Mononucleosis (Mono): Symptoms, Causes & Contagiousness
Questionwhat does mononuclosis mean and is it contagioius
AnswerMononucleosis, or "mono" is an infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, one of the group of Herpes Virus'... it has nothing to do with genital or oral herpes, though. It initially causes a bad sore throat, very similar to strep throat initially. Fever, muscle aches. Then it is distinqguished from strep by not responding to antibiotics, and lasting a little bit longer. It can be diagnosed with a blood test. It does have some treatment... there are some antivirals that help. Anyways, I am too far ahead of myself now... first thing is to head bcck for a re-evaluation.
