QuestionI have a ring with the following inside the band; china, SW 925 2C, what does all of this mean?
Thank you,
AnswerLydia, the only mark shown which is associated with the metal is 925, the mark for sterling silver. The number 925 means the same as saying "sterling" and represents the amount of pure silver in the jewelry metal recipe. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver mixed with other metal which is usually copper to add strength.
The SW is most likely the makers mark and the 2c is only to guess at but would not have anything to do with the quality of the ring.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
