Identifying & Appraising Vintage Scarab Jewelry (14k)
QuestionHello, I have a set of scarab bracelet and twist on ear rings that my aunt from Germany gave to me about 25 years ago. She had them for a long time. I was wondering if you may be able to identify them. They have ac14k on each piece including the jump ring on the bracelet. There are 10 stones on the bracelet and 3 stones on the ear rings. How can I find the value of these items.
AnswerHello Shirley and thank you for your inquiry. Scarab jewelry is very popular today and remains collectible. I have included an ebay auction site of scarab jewelry for you to compare prices to your item. However, if your item is 14K gold it would be worth much more than the costume pieces. To determine this you should have it tested eventhough it is marked. The "ac" may be a company designation for plate or other metal combinations. Also important is if the stones are genuine i.e. jade, rose quartz, lapis and a professional jeweler or estate appraiser could also help you with this. Check with your local antique shop or museum for a referral to someone who could do a hands-on inspection and valuation for you. Hope this helps. Here is the link:
