Antique Van Dell 14kt Gold Butterfly Brooch Appraisal & Information
Question
Van Dell
I have come to possess a Ban Dell butterfly broach. It is still in the sale box and was originally purchased in 1995. It says on the inside of the box 14 Kt and the top side is green of different shades with what I would call diamond looking stones on gold inlay. I would like to find out about this pin and have it appraised as to its value. The original owner is deceased and the family can not furnish any information.
Any help you may be is greatfully appreciated.
AnswerHello Ruthie and thank you for your inquiry. The Van Dell Company produced jewelry from around 1939 to 1991 when they were purchased by another company. They specialized in gold filled, plated over sterling with austrian crystals, cultured pearls and rhinestones often in delicate floral designs. If you believe the brooch is 14K gold and not plated, you should have it appraised by a professional. Get a referral from your local antique shop or museum for someone who could do this for you. Good luck and enjoy your jewelry
