Missed Birth Control Pills & Potential Pregnancy: What To Do

Question
first day of lmp- may 29th

I forgot to take bcp on friday june 9 & sat june 10. Had unprotected sex on June 10th, started bleeding very lightly on june 11th. This is my second pack of bcp, I have never taken them before. Do I need to be concerned about the timing of the missed bcp because my ovalation dates are the 10th, 11th,12th & 13th right. I stopped bleeding the the 11th in the afternoon and i am spotting this morning on the 12th. Should stop my bcp and start new one since i missed 2 days? Please advise- Thanks!

Answer
When you are taking birth control pills, you do not ovulate, at all. That is how the pill works. If you miss a few pills, you will start bleeding. This is normal. If you miss one pill, you must take two the next day, to catch up. If you miss two pills, you must take two the next day and two the day after. If your last period started on May 29, if you took no pills, you would have ovulated on June 11. Y *ou did not say of you doubled up on  the pills or if you continued the pills when you started bleeding. Ovulation occurs on one day, not on several days. However, it is doubtul that you ovulated unless you did not miss more than three days in a row. Do not stop the pills. However, if you do not get a period by June 25, take a pregnancy test if you do not start bleedng by July 31. In the future, if  you miss three pills in a row, throw away the pack and start a new one on  the following Sunday.  If you miss two pills, just take two  the next day and two the day  after. If you miss one pill,  take two the next day. You can safely miss two pills without a problem.
