Stopping Birth Control: What to Expect After Discontinuing Pills

Question
I was on birth control pills for 4yrs. My husband and I decided we wanted to start trying to conceive so after my last period (Jan. 10) I didn't start my new pack of pills.  Today is the day I would be due for my period (if on the pills),but I know your cycle can get messed up after stopping.  So far I have not gotten my period, but I've been bloated and having cramps since last Friday (2/2). Is this normal? I dont really remeber what my periods were like before the pill, I know they weren't regular but I wasn't sexually active so I didn't pay much mind to them.  Is this normal to have bloating and cramping around the time Im due for my period and just not get it? My husband and I have used condoms all month as well. It feels like its coming but Im just not bleeding, but I am getting frustrated of feeling bloated every day.
How are periods normally once stopping birth control?
Thank You.

Answer
jennifer;

in some women it could take up to a year for your body to adjust to not having the pills.

i suggest,seeing your GYN,for a routine check-up,and then you can ask all the question you have. would be a good idea to bring your hubby,as well;

good luck;
