Light Positive Home Pregnancy Test & Missed Period: What Does It Mean?
QuestionI am 24, have a 3 year old daughter and my LMP was Feb. 25 2004. Yesterday I took a home pregnany test by Equate and go a light positie line after a few minutes. I went to Kaiser to have a urin test after this, and their test came up -. I still have not got my period it is always on time or 2 days early. I am feeling very tired and my breasts are sore. We had sex on the 7th, 10th, 11th, and my period was due yesterday. My question is could the test at the doctors not be as sesative as the home pregnancy test? And if not do you know why I might have got the second line on the home test?
thank you

AnswerIf your last period started on February 25, then you ovulated around March 9. YOU could have conceived only if you had sex on March 8,9,10, or 11. If you did conceive on one of those days, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later, or between March 23-30. The best time to take a pregnancy test is 21 days after ovulation or 7 days after your missed period (March 30). The manufacturer of the home pregnancy test claims that in order for a test to be considered positive, the lines have to be dark and bold, and have to appear within 2 minutes. If the lines were faint it is considered a negative test. Repeat the test on March 30 if you have not seen your period by then.
