QuestionThank you very much for your time! I appologize for an extreemly long question!
I am 24 y.o & pregnant with my second child.(24+weeks, my due date is Aug 18, 2004)
With my first baby, the pregnancy went smooth and w/o any complecations; with few minor complaints!
My daughter was delivered 40+ weeks, vaginally in 2002. This time around, I don't have any complecations either, But I feel horible, there hasn't been a day in the whole 5+ mnths that I felt good! Lots of back pain, ligaments in the lower abdomen, and on the sides. Lately, well, at about 20 weeks I have noticed a weird discharge, like clear, mucus like, stringy, but very little. I have been to ob/gyn and had a sonogram and vaginal sonogram my cervix was closed fine. Then, 1 weeek later I still noticed that discharge, after speeking with my OB/gyn I went to hospital and was checked and cervix was shut and I wasn't dialating! Now, at 24+ weeks, still I get this discharge! I don't know if I should go and get checked out again! I don't know if its mucus plug! No one can tell, doctors didn't see it! I am not bleeding and don't have contractions. My baby is moving and kicking! In the past, I have had a biopsy/colposcopy on my cervix after abnormal pap. It was in 2001, before I got pregnant with my first baby, and that pregnancy went great!
I understand that you obviously cannot diagnose me , but any input would be greatly appreciated!
I cannot see my ob/gyn until this wednesday, I don't want to go into premature labor!
thank you very much for your help!
Truly Victoria
AnswerIt is normal to have a clear mucus discharge throughout the pregnancy. As long as it is not like water and dripping down your leg or puddling on your sheets, and as long as you are not having any contractions, there is no reason to think that you will go into preterm labor, and you do not have to worry about it. It is unlikely that your cervix is dilating unless you have cramping. As long as the discharge is not green or does not have a foul smell to it, ignore it. Everything appears to be fine.
