QuestionA bit of history on me and my pregnancy:
I am 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my first baby. I had a cervical exam last week and was dialated to 1cm and 50% effaced. I have been that way since 37 weeks. I have gestational diabetes and have been scheduled for a induction at 40 weeks, 5 days incase I havent gone into labor before then. I am also scheduled for bi-weekly testing until my induction to ensure the baby isnt getting to large and that she is flurishing.
This morning I lost my mucus plug and it had blood in it. Not enough blood to be concerned but I am positive it was my mucus plug and bloody show. It happened in one big chunk and i havent noticed any more mucus or blood since then.
I have been having sex, orgasms, walking, relaxing, eating pineaple, nipple stimulation with no contrations.
My question is: Does loosing your mucus plug indicate a sign of cervical change? I am hoping that loosing it and having the bloody show means that my cervix is working on its own as my dr's are afraid they are going to need to help it along with cervidall when they induce me. I am trying not to get excited but am hoping this could mean labor will happen on its own as I still have over a week until deduction.
AnswerActually, losing your mucous plug does indicate cervical ripening and possible dilation. It does indeed sound like your body is doing its thing and putting you on the road towards labor. Keep with the natural stimulants and you may find yourself in labor in no time. =)
Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.
Best wishes,
Helen =)
