Mucus Plug Loss: What Happens Next?

Question
Being my 3rd childbirth, I am curious how long it should be before active labor begins after losing my mucus plug?

Answer
After you lose your mucua plug, you can go into labor at any time (3 days, or 1-2 weeks later). There is no way to predict when you will start to have contractions. The loss of the mucus plug merely is caused by the thinning of the cervix and does not mean that you are starting labor.
