Fetal Size at 34 Weeks: Understanding Gestational Age & Delivery
QuestionI am currently 34 weeks pregnant. The baby is measuring at a 37 week baby. I have been checked for sugar and that is fine, I have also been check for gallstones, and liver problems and those have come out good. If I went into labor now will the baby be a 37 week baby or a 32 week baby. They are probably going to do another ultrasound next week and recheck the baby to make sure that he is not getting to big for me to have naturally. This is my second child and my first one I had at 38 weeks, and that was a "dream pregnancy" not the first problem.
AnswerHello Virginia. This is not a problem- but your dr is looking for reasons to induce you so that your birth can be scheduled to his/her convenience. Don't get trapped into this plan. You CAN have this baby vaginally- your body would not grow a baby that would not fit your pelvis. You need to read these two books- The Silent Knife and Open Season- both by Nancy Wainer Cohen- she has a website. Learn all you can in the time you have left. All the best- Cheri.
