Question -
I was just curious as to how early a woman will start to feel the symptoms of pregnancy, and what are the first signs/symptoms besides a missed period that indicate pregnancy? Thank you for your time.
Answer -
Even before the period is missed, a woman will start to notice tender breasts, and complain of nausea and fatigue. These are the earliest signs of a pregnancy. If, then, she misses her period (around 14 days after the suspected date of conception) she should take a pregnancy test.
Is there a possibility that a woman will still get her period while she is pregnant? If so, does the period continue just like it usually does, or would she miss a period the first month of pregnancy and from then on she would continue to get her period every month, or just sporadically? And if she is on birth control pills but does not know she is pregnant, will those pills have any effect on a woman in any way at all?
AnswerOnce you become pregnant, you will not get your period for the remainder of the pregnancy. YOu can't. A period is actually the sloughing off of the inner lining of your uterus (endometrium) where the baby is implanted. If you got a period while you were pregnant, you would lose the pregnancy (miscarriage). If you are on the pill, it is highly unlikely that you can become pregnant because you will not ovulate. However, in the remote possibility that you ovulate, and become pregnant, being on the pill will have no effect on the fetus as long as you stop taking the pill before the second trimester of pregnancy (13 weeks from your last period). If you continue to take the birth control pills after the beginning of the second trimester, there can be a masculinization of a female fetus.
