Answer
Jade,

I have no idea why the sonographer would have put your due date back a week when the baby measured 8 weeks, 6 days.  That is definitely something to ask your care provider.

Due dates are truly subjective things.  They are a guess at best.  Some babies are ready to be born at 37 weeks while others aren't until 42 weeks.  Both are completely normal.

Measuring big really has little bearing on when the baby will be born.  It could be related to the position the baby is in, the amount of fluid you have, or your own body structure, not necessarily the size of the baby or its development.

Your baby will come when it's ready.  It may not know the due date you've been given, but it will know when it's ready.

Best,
Catherine
