Choosing a C-Section: Understanding Your Options & Rights

Hi, I'm 28 and in the 29th week of  my first pregnancy.  I'm due Sept. 1st..  I have been doing a lot of reading on C-Sections and Vaginal birth risks. I want the option of having a C-Section.  And dont go see the doctor again for another 2 weeks.  Do I even HAVE the option of Choosing how I have my baby or is it up to the doctor only? I'm not high risk.

There is really no reason to have a cesarean section unless there is a real indication for having one. Some doctors will not perform a cesarean section for you unless they can justify it in their hospital. There are some guidelines for doing a cesarean. Other doctors may allow the patient to opt for avoiding labor and having an elective cesarean section. It is sometimes hard to find these doctors because, if anything goes wrong during a cesarean section, the doctor is responsible and a vaginal delivery is safer, at the present time.(You avoid anesthesia risks and recuperative time).
