Persistent Morning Sickness at 21 Weeks: Causes & What to Expect
QuestionHello, I am 19 and in the 21 week I never really got morning sickness but I do throw up at least once a week is there a reason I am still doing this? It seams to be that it happens I few hours after I eat and if I eat more frequently it does not happen. Does this mean I am not eating enough? Whats going on?
AnswerIn early pregnancy, your hormones may cause you to have nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. This usually stops by 16 weeks. The nausea you ae having after 20 weeks is due to the fact that your stomach is being pushed up by the growing uterus. This elevates the pyloris of your stomach and food remains in the stomach longer than usual. This causes an overproduction of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and you then can regurgitate acid (acid reflux) and get heartburn. This,in turn, may cause you to vomit. Eat timy meals throughout the day, no greasy food, no fatty food, avoid dairy products until you feel better, try Mylanta, Maalox, Tums, etc. to alleviate the acidy feeling. Don't eat haavy meals. It will stop soon.
