Stomach Pain During Pregnancy: Causes, Relief & When to See a Doctor
QuestionI am a 32 yr old and 7 weeks pregnant. For the last 3 weeks I've been getting some funny and uncomfortable stomach pains. The pains feel as if I have colic(gas) and followed by pluffiness in my stomach. The pain does not move and rubbing my tummy sometimes help. I tried eating properly and on time but it's really unbearable, especailly at nights and early mornings. I don't know what to do to get a little ease but now it's affecting my productivety at work.
Thanks for advise.
AnswerJojo,
While to give you a thorough answer would take a full history and physical exam, your symptoms sound a lot like irritable bowel syndrome, which can certainly be made worse with pregnancy. I would ask your OB to recommend a good gastroenterologist (intestine doctor) who could start you on some medication to regulate your intestinal activity. The key though is to have regular bowel movements and the best way to do that is to maximize the fiber in your diet.
If the pain is associated with any vaginal bleeding or gets too bad, you need to call your OB doctor immediately.
