Understanding Eclampsia: What Grandparents Need to Know
QuestionI am a granny-to-be,living 7 hours away from my duaghter. She is under the care of 2 midwives, and is considering an underwater birth. They sent her to the hospital for blood tests, diagnosing her with eclampsia. How concerned should we be?
AnswerHello Arleen. If she truly has eclampsia, she will remain in hospital and she is VERY ill. I suspect she has PRE-eclampsia- not as serious, but not good either. I do hope her midwives have taken a close look at her food intake- it is critical to eat large amounts of protein in this situaion. I wish her all the best- Cheri.
