Understanding Miscarriage: Support and Information
QuestionHi, A few years back my cousin was 11 weeks pregnant and because of medical reasons they had to induce a misscarrage. I do not know the details of this but know that something was wrong with the baby. She was healthy otherwise. When she was around 6-7 weeks wrong they found out something was wrong with the baby and her chances of carring it to term where very low at 11 weeks she had no other choice. My best friend is pregnant and I was reading though her pregancy books and though some of mine from when I had my son. I was just wondering what sort of problems can be determinded like that. I know it was not a molar pregnancy but can't find info on similar problems that can be found that early in pregancy. I am also wondering if there are ways they can be prevented. Basically what are some different types of early pregancy problems and are there ways to prevent them? The only two I know of is molar pregancy and the the tube pregancies.
AnswerThere are basically 2 reasons to induce a miscarriage.
(An induced miscarriage is actually considered an involuntary abortion)
The woman's health is endangered by pregnancy (therapeutic abortion) -0R- There is a chance of an abnormality in the developing fetus (birth defect, genetic abnormality)
Either one of these could be the case as well as an Ectopic Pregnancy. Possibly they found a genetic disease or illness that would have shown up and it could have been harmful to either mother and/or child.
Hope I helped.
