Trying to Conceive After a Stillbirth or C-Section: A Guide

Question
I am 31 yrs old.  I was 32 weeks pregnant and noticed the baby was not moving, I went to the Dr office and had a non-stress test, the baby's ht rate was 140's.  About 15 mins into the test the Ht rate dropped to 50bpm, I was rushed to the OR for an emergency C-section.  The baby was born without a ht rate, CPR was done for appoximately 30 mins and then my son was pronounced dead.  All of the blood tests and autopsy have come back completely normal.  I am now 7 weeks post op.  I want desparetly to have another child.  This baby would have been our first.  My question is how long do I have to wait to try to get pregnant again?

Answer
You can start trying to conceive after you get your first normal period following your cesarean section. There is no reason why you should suspect that the next baby will have any problems. HOwever, make sure that you notify the doctor if you notice any decreased movement after 28 weeks gestation. Have frequent NSTs and keep a record of "kick counts". YOu should feel the baby move at least 10 times in 10 hours after 24 weeks gestation. Good Luck to you.
