QuestionI went to the dr yesterday and they done a transvaginal ultrsound and told me I was 6 wks and 1 day. They also said the baby was alittle small and the heart rate was a little slow. They said the heart rate was 120. They want me to go back in 2 weeks for a follow up ultrasound. Is this a huge concern? I am so scared this may be a miscarriage..Help?
AnswerHi,
I applogize for the delay; i thought i had answered this question, but apparently it didnt go through.
I'm not an ultrasound expert, but from the information given, I think you can be optimistic about your pregnancy continuing. The chance of a successful pregnancy with a heart rate over 90 bpm at 6 weeks is very good. The 120 bpm is within the normal range for heart rate at 6 weeks; if the heart rate was under 90 bpm, that would be cause for concern.
My guess is that they may need a little more information in order to determine the most accurate due date, and that's why they are having you come back for another ultrasound.
Here is some more information about early ultrasound from someone who is an expert:

I think it'll put your mind at ease.
Of course I can't tell you for sure, but I think you'll be getting good news at that 2nd ultrasound. I wish you the best with your pregnancy!
