Creamy Discharge & Possible Trichomonas Infection: What to Do?
QuestionHello. I am wondering about my CM and the symptom of Trichomonas. I am on day18 (Regular cycle of 30) and the fertility monitor shows high(not peak) and it's been high since day 12. I have CM that is very creamy(mostly white but sometime looks yellowish), more amount than usual and little sticky. I was reading and Trichomonas had similar CM that I just described. My annual PEP was done in Nov 04 and the doctor didn't say anything. Don't they usually check for any STDs with annual? Should I be concerned with my CM? Internet said that Trichomonas sometimes causes infertility... and we've been TTC for almost 15 months with no success... I am little worried.
Also, what does it mean when digital fertility monitor never hits the peak but have many days of high? Do I still have chance to conceive during that time?
Thank you very much for your help in advance as always!
AnswerCervical mucus does not resemble a trichomonal infection. In a trichomonal infection, we usually see a "frothy grey discharge that itches tremendously. Cervical mucus can be thin or thick but is usually clear or slightly yellow-white. If you have a normal 30 cay cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation usually occurs on cycle day #16. Usually, when the fertility monitor peaks, it indicates the surge of LH and ovulation usually occurs 12 hours later. If you concentrate on having intercourse once the monitor is high, you probably will bracket the time of ovulation and be able to conceive. Don't get frustrated. If you have been trying with no success for more than 12 months, it is time to consult the gynecologist to start a workup. Good luck.
