Obesity and Fertility: Understanding the Impact on Conception

Question
I recently got married, and decided to go off Ortho-Cyclen (around June 30 of this year) after taking it steadily for about five or six years.
I am 5' 6" and weigh 310#.  I have a medium build, so this means I am pretty heavy, but I try to remain active and eat right (I used to weigh over 450# but I started eating more sensibly and less carbs and it took about 1 and 1/2 years to lose the weight; now I've plateaued but that's another issue).
I haven't had a period in over 70 days, and it's like I'm PMSsed all the time; I am dizzy and nauseous in the morning, I am craving pickles and hot food (never liked either before), I am tired after about 6 hours of being awake, and I mean BONE/DOG tired, but my preg tests keep coming back negative (urine tests at home and one 2 weeks ago at doc's).
Do you have any idea what's going on?  We're tearing out our hair here.  I know that many couples have to really try for much longer than we have been, but I just don't understand why my symptoms are so much like being pregnant, and I'm not! Or am I, or worse yet is something wrong with me?  I am pretty frightened here.
TY,
Faith Mahurin

Answer
This actually definately sounds like a pregnancy to me but as you said, all the test done were negative.  I think being off the Ortho-cyclen could possibly be giving you pregnancy symptoms.  Birth Control as you know has the hormones and you body has gotten so use to having those hormones that when you stopped it went wacky so to speak.  I would wait a few more weeks and try a test again.  If it still comes back negative I would suggest seeing a doctor just to make sure it is nothing worse.  I had an ovarian cyst and it was giving me pregnancy symtoms. So yeah go get it checked out one way or another.
